NEWS: Exciting scoop for all SPY×FAMILY fans! The popular anime has officially announced its third season. Although there hasn't been any dates confirmed yet, SPY×FAMILY team unveiled stunning new visuals for the upcoming season. The big reveal happened during a special event on June 9, 2024.
For those unfamiliar, SPY×FAMILY is a spy comedy series created by Tatsuya Endo, currently serialized on Shueisha’s manga app “Shonen Jump+”. The story follows a family with hidden secrets as they take on the challenge of maintaining world peace. Since its debut in March 2019, the manga has garnered over 600 million page views, with the series’ 13 volumes selling a total of over 35 million copies. It has also won numerous manga awards.
The second season, which aired in October 2023, was met with rave reviews, and the movie “SPY×FAMILY CODE: White,” released on December 22, 2023, was a massive hit, earning over 6 billion yen at the box office by March 31, 2024.
The announcement of Season 3 was made during a special event featuring seven of the anime’s voice cast members, including Takuya Eguchi (Lloyd Forger) and Saori Hayami (Yor Forger). Alongside this, a new visual designed by Kazuki Shimada, the character designer for the TV anime, was revealed. The art direction was handled by Yuni Yoshida, known for her award-winning CD artwork for Gen Hoshino.
The new visual shows Anya and Bond asleep after a day of fun, while Lloyd and Yor watch over them from outside the room. The items scattered around Anya hint at the exciting adventures awaiting in Season 3.
If you missed the live event, don’t worry! The SPY×FAMILY Special Event ANIME EXTRA MISSION is available for archive streaming until June 16 at 11:59 PM JST. Tickets for the archive are on sale until 7:00 PM JST on the same day for 2,750 yen (tax included).
