NEWS: To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the TV anime “Haikyuu!!”, the “Anime ‘Haikyuu!!’ 10th Anniversary -Connect- Project” has been launched. Recently, new visuals for four schools have been released.
“Haikyuu!!,” created by Haruichi Furudate, began its serialization in Shueisha’s “Weekly Shonen Jump” in February 2012. This volleyball-themed high school drama became a hit, marking its place as a landmark sports manga. The series concluded its eight-and-a-half-year run in July 2020, with a total of 45 volumes reaching a cumulative circulation of 60 million copies. The TV anime adaptation, which started airing on MBS and TBS networks in 2014, captivated many fans and viewers through its fourth season, “Haikyuu!! TO THE TOP.”
Moreover, “Haikyuu!! The Movie: The Dumpster Battle” released nationwide on February 16, 2024, surpassed 10 billion yen in box office revenue on April 30. As of June 9, it continues to draw audiences, reaching a box office revenue of 10.9 billion yen.
For this immensely popular anime, 2024 marks its 10th anniversary since its initial broadcast. To commemorate this milestone, the “Anime ‘Haikyuu!!’ 10th Anniversary -Connect- Project” was launched on April 6. Various projects are underway to connect fans with the anime “Haikyuu!!”.
One such project is the “Connected School Visuals,” featuring protagonist Hinata’s Karasuno High and the rival schools they faced in fierce battles. Now, four more schools have been added to this visual collection.
Aoba Johsai High School showcases the perfect synchronization between the setter, Toru Oikawa, and the spiker, Iwaizumi Hajime. Date Tech High School is known for its “Iron Wall” defense, with Takanobu Aone blocking at the net and Kenji Futakuchi solidifying the defense with his receives. Shiratorizawa Academy, the absolute champions of Miyagi, features the powerful spiker Wakatoshi Ushijima and the trickster Satori Tendo with his intuitive plays. Fukurodani Academy highlights Kotaro Bokuto, one of the top five spikers in the nation, and his supporting setter, Keiji Akaashi. Each school’s unique characteristics are vividly depicted.
