"Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom" provides fans with a new way to immerse themselves in the Gundam universe through VR cinema, offering an unprecedented interactive storytelling experience. Set in U.C.0096, viewers participate as "protagonists" in the story, enjoying a life-sized Universal Century.
Produced in collaboration with Atlas V, which has created numerous VR works, and distributed by Astrea company, the project is set to launch in fall 2024 on Meta’s VR headset, Meta Quest. The choice of Shoko Nakagawa, a multifaceted talent, as the theme song artist for this work was recently revealed, and the song "ACROSS THE WORLD" is scheduled for digital release on July 3rd. Accompanying the announcement, a video featuring the theme song was released, with Nakagawa commenting, "An unprecedented level of immersion into the Gundam world! Who knew such a future would come! May the theme song 'ACROSS THE WORLD' become a memorable part of your new Gundam experience."
The world’s largest anime convention, Anime Expo 2024, taking place in Los Angeles from July 4th to 6th, will feature Nakagawa in the Gundam special panel on July 5th, where new information about the project will be unveiled. Additionally, at the online event UploadVR Showcase: Summer 2024, it was announced that a new mixed reality operating system, the "MR System," which seamlessly integrates real-world elements with virtual ones, will be implemented in this production. This MR content allows users to enjoy mini battles with Mobile Suits that appear in their play space, warp from the real world to a dock housing the Mobile Suits, and feel them up close – offering a fully immersive experience.
Moreover, the MR content will not only feature the Mobile Suits from the main story but also include Mobile Suits exclusive to the MR System. The integration of everyday life with the world of Gundam promises to deliver exciting content.
