Set to Premiere on October 5th 2024 by Studio MAPPA, a new anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's "Ranma 1/2" is on the way! The big reveal came during the "New Information on the Completely New 'Ranma 1/2'" announcement event on July 14, which was also streamed live on the official X account. The highlight of the event was the confirmation of voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi, Megumi Hayashibara, and Noriko Hidaka reprising their iconic roles, much to the delight of attendees.

Mark your calendars: the fresh take on "Ranma 1/2" is set to debut on October 5, 2024. It will air on NTV in Japan and stream exclusively on Netflix right after the broadcast. The cast is a 'who's who' of the anime world, featuring Kappei Yamaguchi as Ranma Saotome, Megumi Hayashibara as Ranma, Noriko Hidaka as Akane Tendo, along with Minami Takayama, Kikuko Inoue, Akio Otsuka, Cho, Koichi Yamadera, Rei Sakuma, and Kenichi Ogata in various roles.

Under the direction of Kōnosuke Uda, MAPPA, known for hits like "Chainsaw Man" and "Jujutsu Kaisen," is handling animation production. The opening theme will be performed by the artist ano, adding a modern touch to the classic series.

The release of the first trailer has already stirred up excitement, offering a sneak peek at the updated voices of some characters. "Ranma 1/2," a martial arts romantic comedy, was first serialized by Rumiko Takahashi from 1987 to 1996 in "Weekly Shōnen Sunday." The story kicks off with Akane Tendo, whose father arbitrarily decides her fiancé, only for her to discover that Ranma Saotome can transform into a girl when splashed with water—spinning them into a whirlwind of comedic chaos involving their friends and family.

Previously adapted into an anime series and several OVAs starting in 1989, "Ranma 1/2" also saw a live-action drama adaptation in 2011 starring Yui Aragaki, Kenichi Kaku, and Natsuna.
