New Super Mario Animated Movie Set for Release on April 24, 2026! Team – Nippon Figures

On June 18, 2024, Nintendo Co., Ltd. announced on their official X account that a new "Super Mario" animated movie will be released in Japan on April 24, 2026. This new film is being produced in collaboration with Illumination, the studio behind the Minions series, continuing the partnership from the previous movie.

Nintendo hosted a "Nintendo Direct 2024.6.18" broadcast on their official YouTube channel at 11 PM on June 18. The broadcast, known as "Nindai" in Japan, focused on titles scheduled for release in late 2024, providing about 40 minutes of information on upcoming Nintendo Switch games.

In the announcement post on Nintendo's official X account, Nintendo game producer Shigeru Miyamoto stated, "There will be a Nintendo Direct broadcast tonight, but before that, I have an announcement to make. The release date for the new Super Mario animated movie in Japan has been set for April 24, 2026. We are working with the Illumination team to make it a fun movie, so please look forward to it."

The previous "Super Mario" movie, "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," was released on April 28, 2023. It was co-produced by Illumination and Nintendo, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, who previously worked on "Teen Titans GO! To the Movies," and written by Matthew Fogel, known for "Minions: The Rise of Gru" and "The LEGO Movie 2." The film grossed $1,361,683,297 worldwide and 14.02 billion yen in Japan.

The upcoming movie, set for release on April 24, 2026, will once again be a collaborative effort between Illumination and Nintendo, raising high expectations among fans.
