The anime Kaiju No. 8 is officially getting its first game adaptation for smartphones and PC! Alongside this exciting announcement, the first trailer showcasing intense battles between Kaiju No. 8 and the Defense Force's Third Unit has been released, as well as a key visual with the tagline "Break Through with a Kaiju-Level Strike."
"Kaiju No. 8" is a manga by Naoya Matsumoto, serialized in Shueisha's "Shonen Jump+" app since July 2020. With over 13 million copies in circulation, including digital versions, this acclaimed manga has been adapted into a TV anime. The story is set in a world where kaiju regularly threaten humanity. Kafka Hibino, who works in kaiju clean-up, rekindles his dream of joining the Defense Force. However, after a mysterious small kaiju transforms him into a powerful kaiju himself, named "Kaiju No. 8," he becomes a target across Japan but continues to pursue his dream of becoming a Defense Force member and fighting kaiju disasters.
The game, developed and managed by Akatsuki Games, is a collaborative project involving Toho and Production I.G, both of which are also involved in the anime. Following the broadcast of Episode 10 of the anime, a teaser site, official X (formerly Twitter), official YouTube channel, and a special recruitment site for game developers have been launched.
The first trailer depicts the devastated city under kaiju attack, showcasing the fierce battles between Kaiju No. 8 and the Defense Force's Third Unit. Fans are eagerly anticipating how the world and action scenes from "Kaiju No. 8," which have been highly praised in the anime, will be translated into the game. The key visual, with the tagline "Break Through with a Kaiju-Level Strike," features Kaiju No. 8 gearing up for a massive punch against a gigantic kaiju.
The "Kaiju No. 8" smartphone and PC game, tentatively titled "Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME," will be free-to-play with in-app purchases and will be available on the App Store, Google Play, and Steam. Stay tuned for more updates!
