Studio Ghibli's Goro Miyazaki Designs T-Shirt for Nippon TV's "24-Hour – Nippon Figures

Nippon TV's charity program "24-Hour Television 47" will air on August 31 and September 1, 2024. This year, the theme is "Will Love Save the Earth?" and Studio Ghibli's Goro Miyazaki has designed the "Chari-T-Shirt" to reflect this theme.

After a donation embezzlement scandal last November involving a member of the "24-Hour Television Charity Committee," the program theme "Love Saves the Earth" has been changed to "Will Love Save the Earth?" for this 47th installment, the first theme change since the program started in 1978.

Goro Miyazaki's design for the "Chari-T-Shirt" incorporates this new theme. This character is a new creation specifically for this year's 24-Hour Television. It's the first time in 14 years, and only the third time ever, that Studio Ghibli has designed the "Chari-T-Shirt," with the previous designs in 2006 and 2010. This is also the first time Goro Miyazaki has taken on this design task.

The "Chari-T-Shirt" comes in three colors: yellow, white, and gray. Sales will start on July 4 at Aeon Group stores nationwide. From July 12, the shirts will also be available on the 24-Hour Television charity goods online store, "Nittere-ya" at Shiodome and Tokyo Station, and the official TV station shops "Tree Village" in Tokyo, Osaka, and Hakata. Priced at 2,000 yen (tax included), all proceeds will go to charity.

Nippon TV's "24-Hour Television 47" will air on August 31 and September 1, 2024. The main hosts will be Nippon TV announcers Shinichi Hatori and Asami Miura, with other guests to be announced later.
