Pony Canyon Inc has formed a strategic partnership with the newly launched "STUDIO DOTOU," an animation studio that's redefining the creation process in the anime industry with many experimental animations. They're also collaborating on "KILLTUBE," an original theatrical anime directed by Kazuaki Kuribayashi of CHOCOLATE Inc. STUDIO DOTOU brings together diverse professionals committed to breaking down traditional barriers and innovating the way stories are told.
"KILLTUBE," led by director Kazuaki Kuribayashi, embodies this fresh approach. Started in April 2024, the project is experimenting with new ways to develop, present, and profit from original content, sharing its journey and findings up to its theatrical release through "108 experiments."
The setting of KILLTUBE movie is a version of Japan where the Edo period persists until 2026 due to unforeseen circumstances. In this society, strict social hierarchies are in place, and the only way to alter one’s status is through "duel streaming." The anime follows a trio from the lowest tier as they battle their way to the top, turning societal ridicule into admiration.
With a projected release in Spring 2026, the excitement around "KILLTUBE" is heating up, especially with Pony Canyon Inc's backing. This collaboration promises to shake things up in the anime scene.
