The first-ever "One Piece on Ice – Episode of Alabasta" ice show is making a grand return with performances scheduled for September 7th and 8th, 2024, at LaLa arena TOKYO-BAY in Funabashi, Chiba. Along with this exciting announcement, new teasers of Marin Honda portraying Princess Vivi have been revealed.
"One Piece on Ice" is a pioneering ice show where Japan's top figure skaters bring to life the characters of the beloved anime "One Piece", performing to the original voice actors' dialogues. This show combines the unique speed and dynamism of skating with the grand adventure of the "One Piece" saga. The show’s setting, the desert kingdom of Alabasta, is on the brink of destruction due to the machinations of the mysterious criminal organization Baroque Works. Princess Vivi, alongside Luffy and the Straw Hat crew, rise to save their nation, with their epic tale unfolded through group choreographies, battle scenes, and enhanced with projection mapping and lighting effects.
Marin Honda plays the role of Princess Vivi of Alabasta Kingdom, who, upon learning of Baroque Works' plot to seize her homeland, decides to stand against them. Portraying a character who treasures her companions and her people more than herself, Honda expressed her enthusiasm about revisiting her role, emphasizing her desire to fully embody Vivi’s courage and emotional depth, ensuring that her performance reaches every corner of the venue.
During the first run, audiences were moved by Honda’s portrayal, where she memorized all her lines and performed in sync with the voice of Vivi’s voice actress, Misa Watanabe. Honda shared that it was a challenging yet rewarding experience to immerse herself completely into her character rather than just perform as "Marin Honda."
As she prepares for the re-staging, Honda looks forward to re-experiencing the emotions and tightening her performance even more. "One Piece on Ice – Episode of Alabasta" promises to bring the same intensity and spectacle as before, with four performances across two days.
