The news dropped during Shueisha's "Jump Press" livestream on August 19th 2024, confirming what many suspected after Akutami's remarks at last year's Jump Festa '24. He hinted, "This will probably definitely be the last Jump Festa where Jujutsu Kaisen is still in serialization," setting the stage for this year’s conclusion.
Here’s what Akutami had to say about wrapping up the manga (translated):
"With just five chapters left, I am grateful to conclude the story in the way I've always envisioned, all thanks to the support and cooperation from the readers. Thank you!! We are diligently crafting a finale that will hopefully satisfy as many people as possible (probably). So, everyone, please bear with me!!"
Since its launch in March 2018, Jujutsu Kaisen has not only gathered a massive following but also expanded into a successful anime series. And for those who can't get enough, don't worry because the anime isn’t stopping anytime soon either. A third season is confirmed, set to adapt the intense "Culling Game" arc. Studio MAPPA continues to handle the production.
So mark your calendars for September 30th, and let’s prepare to bid farewell to one of the greats in the world of manga. Until then, let's enjoy the ride and see how Akutami decides to close this epic chapter!
