The second season of the anime “Blue Lock” will air starting October 5, 2024, in the “IMAnimation” slot on TV Asahi’s national network. This season will consist of 14 episodes. Along with this exciting news, new characters and their voice actors have been announced: Satoshi Hino as Aiku Oliver and Akihisa Wakayama as Akito Sendo.
“Blue Lock,” a manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, has sold over 30 million copies. The story revolves around 300 high school forwards competing to become the world’s best striker in the “Blue Lock” facility.
The first season aired from October 2022 to March 2023 on the TV Asahi network. In April 2024, “Blue Lock: Episode Nagi,” a film from Seishiro Nagi’s perspective, hit the big screens, showcasing his extraordinary soccer skills.
The highly anticipated second season will air every Saturday at 11:30 PM in the newly established “IMAnimation” slot on TV Asahi’s national network. The season features 14 episodes, bringing more intense soccer action and character development.
New characters introduced this season include Aiku Oliver, the captain of Japan’s U-20 team known for his formidable defense and talent, voiced by Satoshi Hino.
Akito Sendo, a top-tier forward and ace of the U-20 team, will be voiced by Akihisa Wakayama.
Hino shared his thoughts: “My first impression after reading the original work was that it’s a very unique and captivating story. The characters each have strong personalities and watching them grow as a team is truly fascinating.” Wakayama added, “It’s a compelling series that focuses on the often negatively viewed ‘ego’ and ‘egotist’ in the context of team sports. The characters' struggles and growth are depicted with such intensity that I found myself eagerly following the latest chapters.”
